According to the Icelandic Met Office there are no signs of eruption in Bárðarbunga volcano, but “it cannot be excluded that the current activity will result in an explosive subglacial eruption, leading to an outburst flood and ash emission”.

The National Power Company of Iceland, Landsvirkjun, is closely monitoring water inflow into reservoirs situated in the central highlands. Outburst floods could heavily increase water inflow into the reservoirs. The company operates sixteen power stations all over Iceland.
