Strongman Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, also known as the Mountain, held the top spot in his category in the World’s Strongest Man competition yesterday. Hafþór completed five squat lifts with 325 kilo (700 pound) weights. Icelander Benedikt Magnússon got injured after his second squat lift.

The strongman event, taking place in Malaysia, began last Sunday and will finish on April 26th. Last year, Hafþór came second to Lithuanian strongman Žydrūnas Savickas.
Iceland became known for its strongmen in the 80’s and 90’s when Jón Páll Sigmarsson and Magnús Ver Magnússon both won the Championship title four times: the former in 1984, 1986, 1988 and 1990 and the latter in 1991, 1994, 1995, 1996.
