RVK Studios, a production company owned by director Baltasar Kormákur, will produce what is to become the most expensive Icelandic television series to date. The company’s goal is to produce Icelandic television programmes for an international market.

Sigurjón Kjartansson, a well-known Icelandic comedian and screenwriter, co-wrote the script with actor Ólafur Egilsson and screenwriters Jóhann Ævar Grímsson and Clive Bradley. The series, entitled Trapped in English, will cost around one billion krónur, which equates to 6.430.454 euros. Its creators introduced the series to potential buyers and investors at the annual MIPTV conference in Cannes last October.

Baltasar is set to direct the series and filming should begin later this year, should everything go according to plan.
