The Iceland Design Centre awarded its annual design grant on Friday to 13 local designers and businesses. The centre awards its grants 4 times each year.

Three projects received the maximum award of 2 million ISK (14,172 Euros): Clothing company Spaksmannsspjarir, product designer Kjartan Óskarsson, and design collective North Limited.

North Limited was formed by three Icelandic designers, who each work under their own brand: Bybibi, Færid, and Guðrún Vald.  The company showcases a line of home furnishings, tableware and accessories.

Product designer Kjartan Óskarsson has gained much attention and praise for his lighting concept HALO, an interactive light.

Spaksmannsspjarir is a clothing company, located at Bankastræti 11, known for its unique cuts and forms.
