The eagle population was on the verge of extinction just 60 years ago, but has experienced a recent resurgence in Iceland thanks to conservation efforts for the exotic bird.
Kristinn Haukur Skarphéðinsson, a bird specialist, claims that the eagle population has never been larger in Iceland due to the regular monitoring and regulation of the eagle’s nesting around the island.
Kristins also remains optimistic going forward about the eagle population because of the fact that significant portion of the current population is young birds, proving that the nesting efforts have been successful.
