The Blue Lagoon now among the largest shareholders in Icelandair 6481

The Blue Lagoon has in recent weeks and months been acquiring a larger stake in Icelandair Group, which operates one of Iceland's two international airlines, Icelandair. The local newspaper Fréttablaðið reports that Blue Lagoon hf, which owns and operates the popular tourist destination and blue water pool, is now among the 20 largest shareholders in Icelandair.

The Blue Lagoon has tripled its holdings in Icelandair Group since the end of 2017, Fréttablaðið reports. Currently the Blue Lagoon owns 1% of the outstanding shares in Icelandair. The Blue Lagoon has been doing well in

The Icelandic pension funds are also important shareholders in the Blue Lagoon. The largest shareholder in the Blue Lagoon, with a 39% stake, is the an investment company which is owned by institutional investors, including several pension funds, and the CEO and founder of the company. The second largest shareholder in the Blue Lagoon is the utility company HS Orka, the only privately owned power utility in Iceland. The Icelandic pension funds are among the largest shareholders in HS Orka.
