The Þríþraut Vasa triathlon starts in the village of Bolungarvík and ends in Ísafjörður, the capital of the Westfjords. It’s a multiple-stage competition involving a 700 metre (2297 ft) long swim, a 17 kilometre (10.5 miles) long cycle, and a 7 kilometre (4.3 miles) long run, that will take competitors through parts of the wildest and most rugged corner of Iceland.
