Temperatures reach annual highs in the capital 1219

The temperature reached a comfortable 22 degrees Celsius in the capital yesterday, making August 11th the warmest day of the year so far in Reykjavik.

Although most cities around the world would consider 22 degrees Celsius a moderate temperature, Icelanders were out in masses to enjoy the abnormally warm conditions. 

In fact, over a thousand people made the trip to Reykjavik's man-made beach to soak in the sunlight and do their best to get a tan.
