Police have apprehended one of two suspects who robbed a jewellery store in Hafnarfjörður yesterday afternoon. The man was arrested in Reykjanesbær, Reykjanes peninsula, yesterday evening at around 9 pm.
According to the National Broadcasting Service the two men entered the store in the Reykjavík suburb of Hafnarfjörður in the afternoon and threatened the store’s employee with a bat before leaving with a large amount of merchandise. Witnesses saw them leaving the area in a white jeep, most likely stolen.
Police arrested the suspect in Reykjanesbær after witnesses spotted him moseying around town with friends. The thief, brandishing an air pistol, attempted to flee from the police, who arrested the man after a short chase. The unidentified second thief remains at large.
