According to a new poll by Capacent, the support for the Progressive Party keeps plunging. Recent figures reveal that 12.7% would vote for the party if elections were to be held now. The Prime Minester, Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson, is the chairman of the Progressive Party. In the 2013 elections the party got 24% of the votes.
The Progressive Party's partner in Iceland's coalition government, the Independent Party, fares the best of all political parties in the poll with 25.3%.
At 8.1% the Pirate Party lose two percent in between months, while the Social Democratic Alliance gains two percent and has 18.2% support. Other parties such as Bright Future have 15.7% and the Left Greens have 12.8%.
Parties that do not have members in the Parliament would receive 7% according to the results from the June poll.
In total the poll shows that the ruling government has 38% of the vote, however they were voted into power with 51.1% of the popular vote.
