Strong gale developing in the south and southeast by late afternoon, Thursday 2361

The weather will be mostly cloudy and dry today, according to information from the Icelandic Met Office., with a strong gale developing in the south and southeast later in the afternoon. Some snow showers are expected on the northeast coast today.

Light variable winds, 3 to 10 metres per second (7 to 22 mph) all over the country today, but increasing easterly wind in the south and southeast later in the afternoon. Winds will reach 25 metres per second (56 mph) in the south by morning, but decrease nearing noon.

Cloudy conditions will continue in the south, with a few snow showers developing late evening. Temperatures ranging from -2 to -12 degrees Celsius (28 to 10 Fahrenheit), coldest inland.  

Road conditions are ideal today, Thursday, and are expected to stay that way until this evening.
