Trade unions under the Federation of General and Special workers in Iceland have staged a widespread work stoppage taking place today and tomorrow. The strike actions will affect countless work places and services all around the country.

Members of the Association of Academics (BHM) have also been on strike for a month now. These unions are: The Icelandic Society of Radiographers, the Icelandic Association of Biomedical Scientists, the Union of Natural Scientists, the Icelandic Midwifes’ Association, the Union of Lawyers (who work in the public sector), the Icelandic Veterinary Association, and the Union of Nutrition Scientists.
