The northern lights have been in dazzling form over Iceland for the last three nights and according to The Icelandic Met Office (IMO) we can expect them to be very active tonight and as the skies will be clear we are set for a wonderful show.

IMO builds its forecast on combined information on aurora activity, cloud cover, sunlight and moonlight.

Below is a timelapse of the northern lights that was captured 27 September by Sævar Helgi Bragason and Snorri Þór Tryggvason from the Icelandic astronomy website Stjörnufræðivefurinn over Hotel Rangá in South Iceland. It was shot using Nikon D810A, 14-24mm f/2.8 over a period of just 30 minutes.
