Stormy weather caused damage in the northern regions 520

According to Vísir, there were a number of calls for assistance following the storm that hit north and northwest Iceland yesterday evening. Local rescue units had a busy evening due to damage caused by the stormy weather.  

The heavy winds tore off roofs in Hólmavík and Siglufjörður and half a dozen trampolines were airlifted in Akureyri, one landing on a nearby vehicle, causing some damage.

Rescue units were also called to assist motorists who had skidded off the Steingrímsfjarðarheiði road due to icy road conditions.  

It will stay breezy in most parts of the country today, becoming less windy in the afternoon. It will remain mostly dry, with some periods of rain in the northeast and the southwest. Temperatures will range between 3 and 8 degrees Celsius (37 to 46 Fahrenheit), warmest in the east.
