The Icelandic Meteorological Office has issued a weather warning for today. People are advised not to undertake any travel which is not absolutely necessary, and parents are asked to check the weather before sending children to school.

Strong Gale force winds, reaching 20 m/s to 28 m/s (45 mph-63 mph) with individual wind gusts reaching hurricane force, 40-50 m/s (90-112 mph) in the afternoon. Visibility will also be limited due to sleet and snow showers.
ICE-SAR has issued a warning of a violent storm in ALL Iceland! NO TRAVEL CONDITIONS! Storm moving northeast to Akureyri, Mývatn & Húsavík in the afternoon.
Major roads will be closed
The Icelandic Meteorological Office and the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration warn that conditions on the roads leading out of Reykjavík will become extremely difficult. All major roads leading out of the capital will become impassable, and will be closed during the afternoon. Several stretches of the Ring Road 1 outside Reykjavík will also be closed.
The IRCA warns of storm, snow and blowing snow on the Golden circle from the morning and until afternoon. Violent storm east of Seljalandsfoss by 11, gust there up to 40-50 m/s. Also strong storm crossing the main road to Keflavík airport between 13 and 17. The IRCA has decided to close several roads while the worst storm passes over.

- Reykjanesbraut, the highway connecting Reykjavík and Keflavík International Airport: 12:00-17:00
- Ring Road 1 South of Mount Esjan in Capital Region: 12:00-18:00
- Ring Road 1 West of Hafnarfjall mountain in West Iceland: 12:00-18:00
- Holtavörðuheiði heath, Ring Road 1 between West and North Iceland: 15:00-21:00
- Brattabrekka pass, connecting West Iceland and Breiðafjörður Bay: 15:00-21:00
- Mývatnsöræfi and Möðrudalsöræfi, Ring Road 1 connecting East Iceland and North Iceland: 16:00- until late evening
- Fjarðarheiði heath, connecting Seyðisfjörður fjord/town and Egilsstaðir town in East Iceland: 16:00- until late evening
- Fagridalur pass, connecting Reyðarfjörður fjord/town and Egilsstaðir town in East Iceland: 16:00- until late evening
