The strongest wind gusts are expected along mountainsides. Wind gusts of this strength can easily cause drivers to lose control of their cars or blow them off the road.

You can also check on road conditions at the site of the Icelandic Road and Coastal Authority. The IRCA also has a map with webcams and up-to-date notes of areas with strong wind gusts.
