The Icelandic Meteorological Office has issued a weather warning for East Iceland, effective today Wednesday. A deep low pressure zone which crosses over the eastern part of Iceland will bring with it strong winds, mostly in the East.

Wind speeds in Iceland today will remain between 10 to 18 m/s (22-40 mph), fresh breeze to moderate gale, with rain. West and South West Iceland will see lighter winds, but some sleet. The temperature will remain between 0°C and 8°C (32-46°F). The wind will pick up tonight, reaching gale and storm strength in the East. The wind will slow down by tomorrow, but sleet and rain showers will continue.
