Storm warning for E. Iceland for Monday: Storm and severe gale. Windy in South and South-West. 5626

The Icelandic Meteorological Office has issued a weather warning for East Iceland, effective today Monday. A deep low pressure zone which crosses over the eastern part of Iceland will bring with it strong wind and rain.

The impact of the low pressure zone will be most severe during the morning, with severe gale and winds reaching more than 20 m/s (47 mph). However, travellers are warned to expect strong gusts along mountain sides through the day, as winds will remain strong for the entire day in the East. The South and South West of Iceland will also see strong wind for most of the day.

The wind speeds will slow down today, but will remain between 10 and 20 m/s (25-47 mph), from a strong breeze to a strong gale tonight and tomorrow. Sleet, rain and wintry showers can be expected throughout the day and tomorrow.
