Storm sweeps over Southeast Iceland, the Road Administration warns drivers of blowing sand 2441

Travel conditions have been challenging all over Iceland for the last 24 hours. The Icelandic Met Office (IMO) has issued a severe weather warning for Southeast and East Iceland and the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration has warned drivers of blowing sand on Ringroad One on the Skeiðarársandur sand plain.

According to IMO steady wind of more than 20 m/s (45mph) is expected in the area and much stronger bursts close to mountains.
