Nine people were taken to the emergency room after a six car collision occurred at the intersection of Suðurlandsbraut and Kringlumýrarbraut.
Four unnamed individuals, attempted a store robbery near that intersection, but while fleeing from the scene, drove through a red light causing the accident. The driver, one of the four accussed theives, broke his neck in the crash and is currently being held at a local hospital.
The other three accomplices fled the scene of the crash in an attempt to escape law enforcement. However, the police reached them shortly after the crash and they are currently being held a dention facility as the facts are gathered surrounding the robbery.
