Star Wars film-crew is reportedly heading back to Iceland 2727

13. mar 2023 20:14

Last year, a film crew from the Star Wars franchise made a stealth visit to Iceland to shoot some scenes for the next installment of the series, Star Wars: Episode VII.  According to the news site Vísir, the filmmakers will be back this spring.

Director JJ Abrams’s team was rumored to have shot some footage for Hoth scenes featuring Chewbacca and the Stormtroopers at Eyjafjallajökull glacier in South Iceland.

As all Star Wars fans know, Hoth is a desolate planet covered in ice and snow. Previously, shooting for Hoth was done in Norway, but we guess that snow and ice look pretty much the same on one glacier as on another.

The crew also filmed some scenes in the geothermal area close to Lake Víti (or Lake Hell in English), in North Iceland. According to Vísir, the Star Wars crew is heading back to that area within a few weeks.

Start Wars: Episode VII will premier in December this year. Below is a brand new offical trailer.
