Arndís Jóna Guðmundsdóttir, who works as a volunteer in a rehabilitation centre for children with special needs in Tanzania, East Africa, recently encountered a young man wearing an Icelandic sports jacket while visiting the town of Arusha. Arndís Jóna told of the incident on her blog.
Arndís Jóna says she spotted the young fellow wearing the jacket when she was driving through the Arusha. When she told her guide that the man was wearing an Icelandic sports jacket, he found the story so amusing that he stopped the car so that Arndís Jóna could have a quick chatto the boy.
The jacket was labelled ÍR Skíðadeild, which is the Reykjavík team’s ski division, and had its former owner’s name written across the right chest. Arndís Jóna explained the jacket’s origins to its current owner and was granted permission to take his photograph.
On her blog she said: “Dear Hrefna María, skier with ÍR, your old jacket now belongs to the lovely and handsome Alexander from Arusha in Tanzania.”
