Sónar Reykjavík: The insider's guide to Sónar music festival 2400

13. mar 2023 20:29

We asked Steinþór Helgi a local night owl and Sónar Reykjavík's spokesperson to guide us through the festival and how to enjoy the capital in general.

What not to miss?
The basement. It will be super intense the entire festival. Lone on Friday is also something I can't wait to see. Be also sure not to miss the live debut of the local Icelandic acts Karó, Hildur and asdfhg.

Where to go for brunch:
There are two places which I love in the Grandi area, next to the harbour. Matur & drykkur and Coocoo's Nest. And not just their brunch but just every single course they serve.

Pre-concert drinks:
Best cocktail bar in town is Apótekið and they have a pretty sweet happy hour that runs until 6pm. I also recommend Kolabrautin, located on the top floor of Harpa. Good drinks and an amzing view.

Where to relax after a night out?
Sundhöllin, of course. But the movie theatre Bíó Paradís on Hverfisgata is also a great hangover hangout.

What to see in Reykjavík?
Hverfisgötupizza restaurant, the fashion store Jör, Prikið café, the Pond, the Reykjavík suburb of Grafarvogur, the Laugarnes neighbourhood, Ban Thai restaurant, Reykjavík Record Shop, the fantastic view from Perlan, and the Einar Jónsson Art Museum.

Sónar Reykjavík takes place on 18-20 of February 2016 in the Harpa Music Hall and with a line-up that includes legendary electronic music artist Squarepusher, rapper Angel Haze, and Berlin-based musician Ellen Allien, it’s bound to be a dance-tastic event!
