The Social Democratic Alliance (SDA) in Reykjavík reaches new heights according to poll published by visir.is this morning. The Social Democrats have 35.5% of the votes which would result in them getting six city council members, one representative more than a poll just two days ago estimated.
The Independence Party gets 22.2% of the votes according to the poll, resulting in three representatives, same as Bright Future (BF) which get 18.6% of the votes. The Pirate Party and Left Greens get one representative each with 7% and 5.8% of the votes respectively.
The Progressive’s Party prejudice statement about taking back the City’s promise to let Muslims in Iceland build a mosque, has sadly raised their support between polls. The Progressive Party now gets 9.2% support and one City Council Member.
However the biggest news, just two days before the elections, are that it looks certain that the current social democratic majority of SDA and BF in the city council will govern the capital for four more years.
Council elections are scheduled for Saturday, May 31st.
