The very first Top 100 list of most sustainable destinations has been created by the organization Green Destinations, and Snæfellsnes peninsula in West Iceland made the list. The list does not provide for a simple ranking from 1 to 100, but are rather ranked by location and other ways as listed on the organization’s website.
Snæfellsnes is the only tourist destination in Iceland to be awarded the Earth Check certification which confirms that the region is environmentally conscious.
