The bleak Icelandic crime-drama Trapped was one of the biggest hits of 2016 when it was released. Trapped was described by British critics as toe-tinglingly good and superb and suspense-laden. Since the 2016 release fans have been waiting for a second season.

The wait will soon be over, as shooting for the second season has already started at Siglufjörður village in North Iceland and in downtown Reykjavík. The National Broadcasting Service has revealed that some scenes will also be shot on Reykjanes peninsula. Some scenes will also be shot in the Central Highlands.

Yesterday the film crew was shooting at Austurvöllur square in front of the house of parliament. A number of police cars and an ambulance in front of parliament caused some concern among pedestrians.

According to the local news site Vísir the scene which was being shot will be in the first episode of the season: At least we now know that the mystery of the season involves a death on Austurvöllur square or the discovery of a dead body in front of the house of parliament. Baltasar Kormákur, the director of the series, told Vísir last year that the story in the second season will involve political intrigue, corruption and topics connected to the current political climate in Iceland.
