The Guardian has published pictures from inside the five hundred metre (1,640 feet) long tunnel into Langjökull Glacier, Iceland’s second largest ice cap. The tunnel is the brainchild of the various travel companies operating on Langjökull Glacier and is due to open in June.

The tunnel, which is located on the west side of Langjökull, 1,260 metres (4134 feet) above sea level, is expected to attract around thirty thousand visitors annually. It will feature exhibitions, an information centre, restaurants and a small chapel for those who wish to marry inside a glacier.
