Keflavík International Airport will perform a thorough review of security and access to the airport entrances after a crazed man managed to crash a stolen vehicle into the entrance to the arrival hall of the airport on Sunday afternoon. Nobody was injured in the crash, although the local man, who police say was under the influence of unidentified narcotics, managed to punch an officer who was attempting to place him under arrest.

A spokesman for Isavia, a government owned company which operates and manages the airport, told the local newspaper Morgunblaðið that security at the airport is constantly being reviewed, but that incidence on Sunday raised questions whether the approaches to the airport need to be changed. The approach to the airport needs to swerve both passengers as well as making deliveries easy, while at the same time safe.
The man who crashed the car into the airport entrance on Sunday has a long history of interactions with local law enforcement. Police had attempted to stop the man who was driving at dangerously high speeds on the highway between Reykjavík and the Airport. The chase only came to an end when the man crashed a car he had stolen into the airport.
