A Chinese national who has been in critical condition since a December 27 tour bus accident in South Iceland has passed away at the National University Hospital. This is the second life claimed by the tragic accident. A young woman was pronounced dead at the site.
A tragic accident
The man, a Chinese national born in 1996, was with a group of 44 Chinese travellers when their tour bus collided with a second car which suddenly slowed down to enter a scenic spot. Conditions on the road were icy and extremely difficult at the time of the accident. The bus rolled over, causing several passengers to be thrown out.

12 people were airlifted to the National University Hospital in Reykjavík. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the second car, both foreign travellers, were unharmed in the accident.
According to information from the Police in South Iceland several people are still being cared for at the hospital, including the driver of the bus, an Icelandic national. None of the people are considered to be in critical condition.
Family members came to Iceland
Family members of the injured travellers came to Iceland shortly after the accident to spend time with their loved ones. This includes the family of the young man who has now passed away. The staff of the Chinese Embassy in Iceland has assisted the people.
