Search for missing traveller focuses on Sólheimasandur black sand beach: Rental car found 7272

Police in South Iceland have found a rental car which an American traveller, Jaspinderjit Singh, was driving when he disappeared on October 13. Jaspendirjit was last seen when he checked out of a hostel at Skógafoss waterfall in South Iceland at 6 am in the morning of October 13.

The local news site Vísir reports that the car was found in a parking lot by the trail leading to the wreck of a US Navy Douglas Dakota DC3 plane on Sólheimasandur beach. The wreck is a popular tourist destination, as are the black sand beaches of South Iceland. Skógar, where Jaspinderjit was last seen is less than 10 km (6 mi) to the west of the plane wreck. 

Members of ICE-SAR companies in South Iceland and a Coast Guard helicopter participate in the search along with police.
