According to the National Broadcasting Service, the charity has applied for a plot of land located between Mörkin nursing home and where the Icelandic Muslim Association will soon construct Iceland’s first mosque.
The facilities will be around 1000 square metre (10,764 square foot) in size and will not include a guest house, as the old ‘Army Castle’ did. Gunnar Eude, head of the charity’s Iceland division, told Morgunblaðið that the new centre will focus on family service programmes and immigrant services.
