Trucks from the Reykjavík Public Service have been out salting slick roads since 4 am this morning. Most major roads and paths in Reykjavík are now clear of snow. However, motorists are advised to drive cautiously today when travelling between regions as slick and icy conditions have been reported all over the country.

Hrafnseyrarheiði mountain road in the Westfjords is still impassable and there’s a blizzard on Dynjandisheiði.

Weather forecast for today, Wednesday: The North will see winds reaching up to 18 metres per second (40 mph) and snow showers. Lighter wind and sleet or rain in southern regions and in the east in the evening, and snow or sleet inland. Temperature near freezing point. Southerly or variable wind and some snow showers are expected tomorrow.
