Motorists are warned to be cautious when driving Holtavörðuheiði mountain road today as the road is extremely icy.
Main routes in South Iceland are ice free but Hellisheiði, Þrengslin and Fróðárheiði have limited visibility due to fog.
Some icy patches are reported on roads in the Westfjords and in the Northeast. Roads in Hrútafjörður, Westfjords, are also very icy.
Visibility in Oddskarð, Breiðdalsheiði and Öxi, East Iceland, is limited due to heavy mist.
Note: Slippery roads are the main cause of traffic accidents in Iceland. Should the vehicle start skidding on ice or snow, ease off the accelerator and slowly gear down. Leave a good space between your car and the car in front of you when driving in these conditions.
