All major roads were closed yesterday due to the severe weather, including all roads in and out of the capital region. The ring road in South Iceland was closed at 15:00 in the afternoon, and the road to Keflavík was closed at 18:00 but re-opened at 2:00 this morning.

A meteorologist at the Icelandic Meteorological Office told the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service at two in the morning that the storm seemed to have reached its maximum. However, at seven in the morning all roads between Reykjavík and South Iceland remained closed, as did most of the ring road. The Icelandic Meteorological Office and Coastal and Road Administration warn that conditions will remain severe until at least noon.
An announcement from the Road and Coastal Administration also warns of extremely slippery and icy conditions on roads today.
Travellers are advised to check up on road conditions and closures at the web page of the Road and Coastal administration, and the latest weather report and current conditions at the web page of the Met Office.
