Budget airline Wow air will open its citybike service, a public bike sharing system, in Reykjavík city mid-June. The system will consist of eight bike sharing stations and a hundred bikes to be put up in and around downtown.
Local news site Vísir reports that a smart phone app will complement the service. Information on the locations of the stations and the availability of bikes at each of them will be accessible through the app. Payments for the service will be made via credit card at the sharing stations.

Reykjavík City Council awarded Wow air a contract to build and operate bike-share facilities in the city in April. The goal of the city is to make it easier for people to travel in an environmentally friendly manner.
