For the first time the great camping site in Reykjavík will stay open through the winter months, instead of only from May to September.
We might not necessarily recommend staying in a tent during the darkest, coldest and windiest winter months in Iceland, but if that's your plan it might be a good idea to try the first night in the middle of the city, where a solid roof is at least nearby.
Reykjavík Campsite is located in Laugardalur valley next to the fabulous Laugardalur swimming pool and recreational area, and is only a 20-minute scenic walk from downtown Reykjavík. It can accommodate up to 650 people in tents, cabins or caravans.

The eco-friendly site features parking, electricity for cars and camper vans, showers, washing machines, internet, cooking facilities, and around the clock supervision.
