Filming for the second series of Sky Atlantic’s crime drama Fortitude is scheduled to begin in February. The first series was shot in Reyðarfjörður, a small village located in East Iceland.

According to Austurfréttir, Reyðarfjörður’s centre has already begun to take on the appearance of Fortitude, a small fictional village located on Svalbard in Arctic Norway. The 20-man crew has transformed the local petrol station into an outdoor sports store and made changes to the Tærgesen house.

The first series premiered in January last year. The 12 episode series was created and written by Simon Donald, stars Richard Dormer, The Killing’s Sofie Gråbøl, Christopher Eccleston and Stanley Tucci, and is the most expensive British drama series ever made.
