The past November broke all previous records when it came to traffic on Iceland's Ring Road. According to figures released by the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration traffic at sixteen metered locations along the Ring Road was six percent greater than at the same time a year ago. Traffic in November has grown by 1.8% on average each year between 2005 and 2015.
The meters counted 54,000 vehicles during the month. According to the most recent projections the volume of traffic along the Ring Road in 2015 will grow by roughly six percent compared to 2014.
