Traffic along the ring road in the first ten months of this year is 5.4% compared to the first ten months of 2014. The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration IRCA now projects that traffic in 2015 will increase by 5.5% over 2014.
IRCA measures traffic along the ring road at 16 key locations around the island. According to these measurements traffic has increased by 12.5% since last year. The increase was greatest in East Iceland, where traffic increased by a staggering 36% since October last year. Traffic in and around Reykjavík increased least, or only 4.2%.
