“Meryl [Streep] has a certain charm and charisma which is hard to describe. This is the first time I’ve become star struck, ever,” film producer Grímar Jónsson told the National Broadcasting Service. Grímar and film director Grímur Hákonarson attended a dinner party with American actress Meryl Streep on Friday during the Telluride Film Festival in Telluride, Colorado, USA. Their film “Rams” (Hrútar), which won the Un Certain Regard award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, was screened at the festival. Streep is there to promote her latest film, Suffragette.

The Telluride Film Festival takes place in Colorado in September each year and has been known to be a steppingstone for new and talented filmmakers. Grímar told the National Broadcasting Service that it is a great privilege to screen ‘Rams’ at such a respected festival. “The only thing distracting us are the black bears raiding the dumpsters outside our hotel at night.”

Rams tells of two brothers who live in a remote valley in North Iceland and haven’t spoken to each other in forty years. However, in order to save their beloved sheep and their prize-winning rams, the brothers are forced to team up and break their silence. In addition to the Un Certain Regard award, the film won three awards at the Tribecca Film Festival: Best Narrative Feature, Best Actor, and Best Screenplay. The film could also become Iceland’s submission for the Foreign Language Oscar next year.
