Rain in Reykjavík during all but one day of October, which was the rainiest on record 866

October was unusually rainy in Reykjavík.  In fact, with only one dry day during the entire month there were more rainy days in October than any October on record. The Icelandic meteorological office reports that it rained 159.5 mm (6.28 inches) during October in Reykjavík, which is 86% more than the average rain in October 1961 to 1990 and the fifth most rain since continuous measurements began in 1920.

At the same time, October was also warmer than usual. The average temperature during October was 5.2°C (41.4°F) which is 0.8°C (2.5°F) )above the average temperature during 1961-1990. The temperature in October was above average all over Iceland in October, by as much as 2.2°C (4°F) in Grímsey by the Arctic Circle.
