At the best of times, summer sun and warmth is generally limited to just a few weeks a year. When the weather gets exceptionally good, some companies and institutions have even allowed their employees to check out at noon to enjoy the day once or twice per summer.
According to local news site Mbl.is, public servants at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs and the Directorate of Health got these sun vacations yesterday afternoon.
After a generally cloudy and rainy start to the summer, Reykjavík enjoyed two days of sunshine at the start of this week. The fun was short-lived as the rains returned today. Further rain is expected this week.
