Hunting ptarmigan is a strenuous pastime that requires much hiking across difficult and often snow-covered terrain. The annual quota this season is around 54 thousand birds. The game is solely hunted for personal consumption and may not be sold to a third party.
The Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue reminds all hunters to prepare well before they head off for their hunting trips.
