For the third consecutive Monday protesters will rally in the centre of Reykjavík against the unpopular coalition government of the Progressive Party (Framsóknarflokkurinn) and the Independence Party (Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn).

The protesters have a mix of sentiments. Topping the bill are planned public spending cuts on education and healthcare and the government's plan to raise value-added tax on food from 7% to 12%.

Many also want Hanna Birna Kristjánsdóttir, the Minister of Interior, to resign. Her former assistant Gísli Freyr Valdórsson confessed last week to leaking sensituve information to the press, while working for the minister, about an asylum seeker who was facing deportation at the time. Gísli Freyr received an eight-month suspended prison sentence last Wednesday.

The protest starts at 17 (5pm) on Austurvöllur square, outside Alþingi, Iceland's parliament.
