Tonight (Thursday), Friday and Saturday look promising for those who are located on Iceland’s southwest corner and wish to see the Northern Lights.

In order to see this spectacular natural wonder the skies have to be clear or at least partly clear, which is something we have not been blessed with for the last several weeks in the capital area.

However for the next few days it looks like the southwest corner will get a short break from the relentless winter storms and according to the Icelandic Met Office (IMO) we can expect relatively bright skies until Saturday. Add the cold temperature forecast, 0 to -8 C (32-18 F), and we have the ideal conditions for Northern Lights sightings.
