In an interview with the British publication, Monocle Magazine, Ólafur Ragnar revealed that he will not seek a sixth term in office as Iceland‘s president. Currently in his fifth term, Ólafur was first elected president in 1996.
The Icelandic presidency does not have a term limit, thus, Ólafur was eligible to run for his sixth term, but has decided that, “Twenty years in this business is a long time.” The entire interview done by Monocle will appear in the June issue of the magazine, which covers news regarding international affairs.
