Bessastaðir, the official residence of the President of Iceland, will be open to visitors tonight between 18:00 and 22:00. Visitors will be allowed to tour the main building of the official residence, view samples of the many gifts former presidents have received from foreign nations and heads of state as well as archeological remains which offer an insight into life at Bessastaðir farm through the centuries, from the Viking Age to the 19th century.

The President himself has not committed to greet visitors, but the staff of the President and students in archeology at the University of Iceland, assisted by students from the local high school and will offer guided tours to visitors.
