Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, the president of Iceland and apparent metalhead, was seen enjoying himself at a concert by German heavy metal band Rammstein in Reykjavík on Saturday night. According to the promoters, the president met with the band members both before and after the concert and spoke with them in German.

Pictures of the popular president quickly spread on social media the night of the concert. There he could be seen in informal dress enjoying himself and posing in selfies with his admirers. According to local news site Vísir, the president seems to be a fan of heavy metal as he was also seen at a show by local metal band Skálmöld earlier this year.

A former professor of history at the University of Iceland, Guðni was elected president last summer. Opinion polls indicate the president is widely popular among Icelanders. The latest poll by polling company MMR showed that 85% of voters were pleased or very pleased with Guðni. That is the highest presidential approval rating the company has recorded.
