The IMO warns that the strongest winds can be expected along the Eyjafjöll mountain range, the foothills of Eyjafjallajökull glacier, extending east from Seljalandsfoss waterfall, as far as the village of Vík, and in the Öræfi region, the foothills of Öræfajökull glacier, between Skaftafell visitor center in Vatnajökull glacier National Park, and Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon.
Powerful wind gusts can potentially reach hurricane force, causing drivers of vehicles which catch winds, like RVs or those pulling camping trailers, to lose control of their vehicles. Drivers in the region should therefore show extra caution when driving late tonight.
