Possible trail for Bárðarbunga ash cloud 1327

13. mar 2023 20:03

It's all in the wind as Europe passionately waits for Bárðarbunga volcano to erupt amidst thousands of earthquakes that have shaken the at-risk area. The reason other European countries are closely monitoring the volcano in Iceland is because of the potential damage the ash cloud from the eruption could cause to the air travel industry.

Currently the wind is blowing from the north, which would give Norway as well as its surrounding countries almost no shot of avoiding the ash fallout. Currently the Norwegian Meteorological Institute is running tests to see what will happen based on the volcanic activity.

The rest of European is hoping there is not a repeat of the Eyjafjallajöjkull eruption of 2010, when much of the air traffic in Europe was paralyzed by the ash cloud from the Icelandic volcano. Now, the same consequences could again shut down the European air travel industry as scientists and travel professionals sit anxiously to see what happens next.
